Please check to see if your State Medicaid Office, or March of Dimes Office, offers any type of reimbursement or grants for the certification of your childbirth educators and your childbirth & parenting education programs. (example: go to www.google.com then search by: March of Dimes Georgia grants )

Last year, $57 million was earmarked by Congress for nursing education funds, which included $12.2 million for midwives.

• State of North Carolina has approved to pay nurses to teach Parenting.
• State of Washington has approved partial reimbursement of Childbirth Educators’ certification.
• Georgia Police Departments have paid grants to hospitals’ childbirth educators to teach parenting to expectant parents during their pregnancies, hoping that the learned parenting skills will result in a better outcome later in life when these babies become teenagers.
  

Malpractice insurer closing out business --
The country's second-largest provider of medical malpractice coverage said Wednesday that it will get out of that business. The St. Paul Companies in Minnesota this year had raised malpractice premiums in 27 states an average of 24%. Still, the company forecast it will lose nearly $1 billion this year underwriting medical malpractice. St. Paul already had notified nearly all customers who are obstetricians, general surgeons or emergency-medicine doctors that it would not renew their policies. Now St. Paul plans to send non-renewal notices to the rest of its physician customers. Insurers and doctors say the growing size of malpractice claims is at least partly to blame for soaring premiums..."
